Transylvania County elevation and terrain tools
Mountains • County seat: Brevard
Transylvania County is where the French Broad River begins, its forks meeting at Rosman in a broad valley beneath the Pisgah Ridge and the Great Balsam Mountains on the north. Along the south the Blue Ridge Escarpment drops away steeply toward South Carolina, and the rivers leave it in waterfalls and gorges, among them the Toxaway and the Horsepasture.
