Yancey County elevation and terrain tools

Mountains • County seat: Burnsville

Yancey County holds the Black Mountains, the highest range in the eastern United States, with Mount Mitchell at their crest. The Cane River and the South Toe River drain the valleys either side of Burnsville north to the Nolichucky, which leaves through a gorge on the Tennessee line, and the Bald Mountains form the northwestern wall.
